The Gayest Gay To Ever Gay

I am totally delinquent about writing up the events of my life in a timely fashion, often getting to things many days late if not ignoring them altogether. (Alternatively, you might say that I've wisely refrained from turning UWI into my social resume.)

I can't omit a mention of this week's WYSIWYG Talent Show, though. "I Love a Parade: Even Gayer Tales of Extremely Gay Gayness" was a highlight of the series, almost every reading a complete slam dunk. (I shan't single anyone out for special praise or criticism, because even the one reading that slowed the evening's pace was still very good by WYSIWYG standards, and the one that ran the longest was one of the very best.) The tales themselves ranged from horrifying coming-out conversations to raunchy sex stories to bizarre political allegories (set to music!) to anecdotes about drugs and Oscar parties to haiku. Maybe they weren't reflective of the full range of gay experiences, but...well, wait, that pretty much covers it.

If there was anything wrong with the evening, it was that it was quite a bit longer than the usual WYSIWYG show, thus cutting into the drinking portion of the evening. I don't know what I'd have done to hold the running time down, though; the readers are responsible for preparing and timing their own material, and I wouldn't have sacrificed any of them.
