The Saddest Story
Something Positive, which began nearly five years ago with a gag about back-alley abortions, is now making me cry on at least a weekly basis. And while I may be a soft touch, I'll usually lose interest before I'll let myself be torn apart for the sake of someone else's art.
I don't know whether I want to tell Randy Milholland that he's a genius or that he should really be in therapy. But I do know that I want to tell him to keep it up, because I've come to love these people more than almost any fictional characters I've ever encountered.
(The short list also includes the casts of Veronica Mars, Babylon 5 and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, plus a few of the Suikoden gang. Maybe also John Dowell from The Good Soldier, though I think he'd only sneak in just to prove that I wasn't a total philistine. Which serves him right, really.)
