Not Yet Dead

I quit my job two weeks ago. I have little else to say about that: I love the place I work and I wish everyone well, but another opportunity presented itself that was so good that I'd have been crazy not to jump on it. (To be similarly concise, it's the same job I have now in a more convenient location, with a more comfortable process infrastructure, and for quite a bit more money. The only thing I didn't get that I wanted was a senior title and I'm prepared to work my way up to that.)

I write this not because I feel much more like blogging than I have in the last few months (I'm pretty much keeping it open for the occasional rant, rave, or general announcement), but because I'm a bit tired of taking people by surprise if I haven't talked to them recently.

Vacation (now expanded to a full week, the second half at home) at the end of the month. Till then, I think I'm going to get some serious working in.

Would you please stop hogging all the career luck? Karma, dude. But seriously, congrats!

I think it's damned sweet you scored a better gig, but if I might ask - what in holy hell is a "process infrastructure"?

Are you working for MarketSpeak Weekly now or something?

I'll go as far as two rounds of beer. At Barrage after 11, of course--I'm not made of money.

"Process infrastructure" was my desperate attempt to package the advantages of this place into a simple noun phrase. It mainly means that they staff differently than my current agency: instead of the 9-5ers taking turns being responsible for late-night work, there's an actual 4-12 shift of staff editors to do any necessary proofreading after office hours. There are other different practices that should make it an easier place to work, but that's the big one.

Congrats again.

And I thought you hit the jackpot with your previous position! I mean, it was a bus ride away? I guess this one's in walking distance???
