Open Left:: Potential Democratic Senate Targets Reaching Absurd Levels
I go back and forth on politics lately: I do enjoy the fact that Democrats are poised to make 2006 look like a yawner...but it all comes at unbelievable cost. If I had the choice, I'd prefer that the country not be broken beyond any hope of repair, even if it meant having a functional Republican party.

That guy's analysis seems way overly optimistic. Idaho? Oklahoma?
That said, it looks like the Republicans have a snowball's chance in hell of winning back the Senate and will likely lose seats, so at least we'll have some consolation once President Thompson is inaugurated.
Thompson? Seriously? At this rate I don't see any Republican winning a national election, but he's a particular non-starter--ugly, lazy, unaccomplished, and running in a bad, bad atmosphere for his party.
Mike Huckabee is about the best candidate the GOP could produce, and even if they nominated him, he'd be running uphill.
