HiRes
I've got the odd feeling that '08 is going to be a really good year, all things considered. So there are a bunch of things I've been meaning to do, and I'm trying to establish some benchmarks and deadlines.
- Blog posts, if not daily, then at least at a 7/week rate. I should be writing a lot more than I am.
- Will call about going into therapy by the end of January--I don't believe in it as a long-term solution (the people I know who are perpetually in therapy are without exception less happy than average), but I think I'd benefit from antidepressants.
- Will get a gym membership by mid-spring. The amount of weight I've put on over the past few years is getting to be kind of shocking; I feel like a fraud because I can't use any of my most recent pictures on Nerve or OK Cupid, and none of my pants fit right anymore.
- The most interesting thing I'm going to be trying: spurred by the success of the guy who created a personal annual report last year, I've decided to try to do the same. Even if I don't actually finish it, I want to start keeping copious records of the "things" I do. Just so I know.
- On a similar note, I've gone hog wild with iCal over the last few weeks and have set up all kinds of reminders for myself. (On a new calendar, kept hidden so my existing calendar looks reasonably sane.) Every year I tell myself that next year I'm going to have a good April Fool's prank, a Halloween costume, cards sent to friends on their birthdays, holiday cards sent to one and all, and well-considered Christmas gifts for the family. If I actually get off my duff to buy, send, or brainstorm any of these things, maybe this will be the year it actually happens.
- Finally, since I got a fantastic new camera for Xmas (thanks, Judy and Ben!), this is the year I'm trying to take regular pictures at social events. I don't have enough good pictures of myself or my friends, and while I can find some without too much hassle, it's a pain. I want to be my own record keeper now.
On that last note:
Plus ça change...
