The Enemy Of My Enemy
I just had a moment of insight into my own psyche that might explain why I'm so repulsed by Obama instead of just quietly indifferent.
Republicans like him.
This may be an advantage in a general election, even if it's offset by the disadvantage of pushing the party to the right. One would think nominating a broadly appealing candidate would be a good thing.
But you know what? Fuck that. Republicans don't deserve a president they like. They deserve eight years of waking up to Hillary every day. They fucked up the entire country to the point that we, who are smarter and kinder and more decent and altogether better than them, have our jaws perpetually clenched with rage. They are owed someone who doesn't act like he's on their side. They deserve to be under the rule of someone who they think is the devil incarnate.
Lots of people won't vote for Hillary. But I'd prefer the winning coalition she would create to the one Obama would, the one that makes room for ex-gays and inexplicably calls Paul Krugman and Al Gore out on the carpet.
